Mirror, Mirror on the Clay: Turning Scrap into Cylinder Beads

A great technique for kids and my friend Cathy.
Here’s the simple process at a glance of my Cylindrical Mirror Bead Tutorial:

Prep & Slice: Take high-contrast scrap clay, twist it into a rectangle, and cut it into mirror-matched strips.

  • The Magic Flip: Rotate, flip, and align the pieces so all the original outer edges end up hidden on the inside.
  • Roll & Finish: Roll the block into a smooth cylinder, trim the ends, cap them with clean clay circles, and poke a hole through the middle.

Presto! You’ve turned leftover scrap into a kaleidoscope-patterned focal bead.
